A Study on the Main Screen Layout Features of Optical Shop Websites: Focusing on Franchise Optical Shops

Abstract
Purpose: This study aimed to analyze the main screen layout features of optical shop websites to improve their designs or to be utilized as design materials for optical shops that intended to open websites.

Methods: The layout concept was examined, and the layout features were analyzed using the visual components of symbol logos, images, menus, texts, submenus, and icons on the website main screens of domestic franchise shops.

Results: Many symbol logos were positioned on the upper leftpositions, and most images were photos., It was also common to use left-right bleed techniques, with a blank on the top and bottom or only on the bottom, wherein about 80%-90% of the screen was filled up. The location of the menu was similarly found at the upper top and top right, and some websites made and positioned menu bars. The texts were often in Korean and were center-aligned, and the sub-menus and icons were most often placed on the upper right side.

Conclusions: The main screen layouts of the websites determined accessibility and convenience for customers, as it is an important graphic design technology with high visual appeal.
